Slaughter; Andrea Barrett, novelist and short story writer; Tom Otterness, NYC-based sculptor; Lorenzo Fonda, LA-based film director; Danny Wegman, CEO of Wegmans; Eric Bellman, Artist; Jeff Tyzik, conductor, arranger, and trumpeter at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; The Right Reverend Jack McKelvey; Janet Lomax, journalist/news anchor at WHEC-TV 10 NBC; and Anne Kress, President of the Monroe Community College.
Rochester Contemporary Art Center's (RoCo), international small art phenomenon returns with 7,300+ original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU. Each artwork must be 6x6 square inches (15cm) or mounted to a 6x6 board, and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. All entries will be accepted, exhibited and will be for sale to the public for $20 each (in the gallery and online for global purchasing) to benefit RoCo. Artist names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through July 15, 2012. Sold Out artists' names will be revealed next to their work online on July 6. Anyone could enter up to 10 artworks of any medium (2D or 3D) and there was no fee to enter.
Preregistration: Beat the Crowds! Call or Stop by RoCo during normal office hours or 6x6x2012 Preview Hours (May 30, 31 & June 1, 1-10pm) to preregister for purchasing 6x6 Artworks. Preregistering is like having an "Open Tab" and RoCo will keep your credit card on file making Artwork purchase faster and easier during the busy opening reception weekend. Registration lines on opening night (June 2) can be very long and may prohibit you from getting your favorite artwork. Pregistration is highly recommended!
Opening Night Raffle for Buyer Positions 1-20 If you would like to achieve an early buyer position to improve your chances of selecting your favorite artworks, you may enter a raffle for buyer position #1 - 20. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on May 30, 31, June 1 & 2 for $5 each. On June 2nd at 7:30 buyer position #1 will be selected from the raffle bin and the winner will have 1 minute to mark their artwork purchases. Buyer position #2 is then drawn, announced, and the winner will have 1 minute to select their artwork purchases before buyer position #3 is announced, etc. Buyer position #1 may continue to select artworks after buyer position #2 is called, and so on. One minute after buyer position #20 is announced "3, 2, 1, GO!" will be announced and all other buyers will be allowed to make their selections. Stickers (dots) for selecting your chosen artworks must be purchased ($20 each) prior to the start of the raffle.
Cash or Check Please! We expect opening night (Sat. June 2, 6-10pm) to be a very busy event. In order to register your 6x6 purchases as quickly as possible and limit your wait time (we will have several more lines this year), we ask that you pay with cash or check if possible. Please note that we do accept all major credit cards, however paying with check or cash will be slightly faster on opening night.
